We have been learning about shape poems.
Here is Teleisia's shape poem about volcanoes.
Bang!
Suddenly
As hot as the sun
Rushing lava quickly rises
The ground is rumbling, shaking
Red and orange lava threatens to overspill
Suddenly a red fury rises inside him, screaming
The volcano stands isolated and calm, but not for long

Amy shared her poster about green sea turtles and Ruby shared her powerpoint about turtles.  The children are very concerned about the plastic that contaminates our oceans.

Turtles are definitely one of the most popular sea creature to research about.

Well done girls!

Here are some of our self-motivated learners in room 4.

Anna and Atalia independently worked together to research about dolphins.  When they presented their findings to the class, they sounded like future marine biologists.

Lochie wrote a shape poem about fish - I didn't know there were so many different species of fish Lockie.

Caden presented his research very effectively.  We were all concerned to see another picture of a turtle affected by the plastics that pollute our oceans.

Were we very lucky to have Mr and Mrs Godwin (Amy's parents) come to school with their boat and fish to show the children how to fillet and cook a fresh fish.  The fish was very tasty too!

We have been learning about the sea this term.  We went to the aquarium to learn all about the different sea creatures.  Look at our photos ...

Anna, Keelan, Louis and Xavier in a HUGE jaw at the National Aquarium of New Zealand.

Jacquie, a staff memeber at the aquarium, is telling us all about the effects of rubbish in our environment.

Our visit included choosing a fish to draw in detail.  This kept us very busy - we had to concentrate hard!

We loved the cheeky little penguins - they are so cute!

We were all able to see close up where the penguins live and how they are fed.

A hungry shark looking for something tasty to eat!

In the travelator - we were awestruck!

Kesiya and Faustina were amazed.

Some great thinking and talking going on here.

Here is our class for 2013!
We really do have only 28 children in the class - and no identical twins ...
